WHEN + FUTURE ?

 

OBSERVATION : Look at the following sentences :

Quand terminera-t-elle sa formation ? (Question au style direct) When will she finish her training ?
(question, direct speech >>> the future tense is possible)

Je ne sais pas quand elle terminera sa formation (Question au style indirect) I don't know when she will finish her training.
(reported speech >>> the future tense is possible)

Elle attend avec impatience le jour où elle terminera sa formation (Subordonnée relative, complément de l'antécédent JOUR) She looks forward to the day when she will finish her training.
(relative clause >>> the future tense is possible)

Quand elle terminera sa formation, elle sera responsable d'un réacteur nucléaire. (Subordonnée temporelle) When she finishes her training, she will be in charge of a reactor.
(tense clause >>> the future tense is NOT possible)
